JETA Application Created by Unisnu Students, Facilitates Tracking of Public Transportation Locations
Students of the Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic University (Unisnu) Jepara have successfully developed a web-based application to track the current location of public transportation. This application is called "Jepara E-transport Application (JETA)."
The JETA application is the work of students who passed the 2024 Student Creativity Program (PKM) funding in the field of Creative Ideas. JETA utilizes geolocation technology in its creation. By utilizing JETA, it will make it easier for the public to access real-time information about the location of public transportation.
"This application was created as an effort to encourage people to use public transportation again, while reducing congestion and the number of accidents," said Reihan Saputra, Head of the PKM Team. Reihan added that so far, people who are going to use public transportation are like waiting for uncertainty on the side of the road, they wait for public transportation or buses that will pass, and there is no information whatsoever, especially about the location of the vehicle they will be riding.
In addition, JETA is an effort to reduce air pollution caused by the large use of private vehicles. This website-based application was created in May 2024. The team began carrying out the observation and data collection stages, until early July 2024 the application could be used after going through trial and error.
"This application is designed with interactive and easy-to-use features, so that users feel comfortable and do not experience difficulties. With this technology, it is hoped that it can re-attract people's interest in using public transportation." said Reihan,
At the same time, information emerged that there was a plan to launch an integrated bus (BRT) in Jepara. JETA has great potential to participate and play a role in increasing the effectiveness and accelerating technological progress in land transportation modes in Jepara.
Given the decline in public interest in public transportation, this application is suitable for use to support technological needs in public transportation modes. Relevant stakeholders are needed to make this application usable in various places sustainably. JETA is scheduled to be launched on July 20, 2024.
The PKM Karsa Cipta Unisnu Jepara Team that successfully developed the JETA application are Reihan Saputra (Informatics Engineering Study Program), Ahmad Sofian (Informatics Engineering Study Program), Nur Syaharani (Accounting Study Program) and Okta Gengga Erinda (Management Study Program).
