VKTR Officially Introduces the First CKD Electric Vehicle Factory in Indonesia
JAKARTA – Bakrie Group entity, PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (VKTR) through its subsidiary, PT VKTR Sakti Industries (VKTS), officially introduced the first completely knocked down (CKD) commercial electric vehicle factory in Indonesia.
VKTR President Commissioner Anindya Bakrie said that the existence of the electric vehicle assembly facility is a real manifestation of VKTR's long-term vision to present technology-based, sustainable, and globally competitive mobility solutions.
"From the beginning, we built this facility not just as a factory. But rather, as a center for innovation, collaboration, and a symbol of the revival of the national electric vehicle industry," explained Anindya in his official statement quoted on Friday (30/5/2026).
Thanks to the support of the government, strategic partners, and local workers, Anindya, who is also the general chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, believes that Indonesia has a strategic opportunity to lead the transition to sustainable mobility in Southeast Asia and make a real contribution to the global market.
The facility, which was introduced through a soft launch attended by a number of state officials and strategic partners, was specifically designed to assemble electric buses and trucks as the backbone of the national electric vehicle ecosystem from upstream to downstream.
The groundbreaking of the electric vehicle assembly facility began in February 2024 and was completed at the end of the same year, where this soft launch also marked an achievement that reflected VKTR's managerial and technological capacity and strong commitment to energy and transportation transformation.
In the soft launch activity, VKTR not only introduced the facility. But, also explored the assembly area and learned more about the structure, function, and readiness of the electric vehicle production line in the facility, starting from chassis assembly, welding, main assembly (general assembly), body trimming, to final refinement.
This facility has succeeded in producing electric vehicles with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) above 40% for the bus category, which proves that VKTR is able to produce highly competitive products with strong local value. With a production capacity of up to 3,000 units per year, the factory is designed to meet the increasing demand for national electric vehicles.
Several strategic partners such as Transjakarta have ordered VKTR electric bus units through the DAMRI operator, and have operated VKTR electric bus units through the Sinarjaya and Mayasari Bakti operators in the previous period.
In the future, VKTR is targeting a gradual increase in the TKDN value to above 60%, expansion of production lines, and strengthening Indonesia's position in the global electric vehicle supply chain. This roadmap will be a strategic guide towards a greener, more independent, and more competitive future for the national automotive industry.
VKTR President Director Gilarsi W. Setijono added that the facility is a real manifestation of VLTR's seriousness in presenting commercial electric vehicles that are not only reliable and of high quality, but also a form of exhibition of the expertise of Indonesian engineers.
"With a TKDN exceeding 40%, we prove that Indonesia is capable of producing global standard electric vehicles that still have a local feel," he said.
On that occasion, VKTR also introduced products called Tidar HF 12 and Arjuno HF 8, which reflect strength and stability. Meanwhile, the electric truck line uses the name Musi HDT 64 L, representing the flow of energy and thrust.
First CKD Electric Bus from VKTR and Karoseri Laksana for TransJakarta
PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk ("VKTR") continues to strengthen its position as a pioneer in the transformation of environmentally friendly transportation in Indonesia with the official operation of the first 20 Completely Knocked Down (CKD) electric buses with TKDN >40% for TransJakarta today. The buses are recorded as starting to serve corridor 10 of the Tanjung Priok - PGC route and corridor 14 for the Jakarta International Stadium - Senen route, marking an important step towards the era of sustainable public transportation electrification in Indonesia.
As a company that prioritizes innovation and sustainability, VKTR has built an integrated electric transportation ecosystem. With a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) above 40%, these electric buses demonstrate VKTR's commitment to strengthening local industries while creating a positive environmental impact. This is also in line with government policies related to the procurement of goods and services that prioritize products with domestic content.
"The production of CKD electric buses with high TKDN is real evidence of our dedication in supporting the independence of the national automotive industry. VKTR is committed to continuing to present innovative solutions that support the government's sustainability agenda," said Gilarsi W. Setijono, President Director of VKTR
Not only presenting superior products, VKTR is also leading the development of local assembly facilities with the construction of a new factory in Magelang which is scheduled for completion in January 2025. This factory is designed to accelerate production capacity, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen Indonesia's position as a regional electric vehicle production center.
This electric bus is the result of a collaboration between VKTR and PT Laksana Bus Manufaktur, a leader in the bodywork industry in Indonesia. This partnership ensures that each bus unit meets international standards, while still prioritizing the use of quality local components.
"The synergy between VKTR and our strategic partners is the main foundation in presenting products that are not only innovative but also support the independence of the domestic industry," added Gilarsi.
The operation of this electric bus has a significant impact, both in terms of reducing carbon emissions and operational efficiency. As part of supporting TransJakarta's target to fully switch to electric vehicles by 2030, VKTR continues to play a key role in accelerating the transformation of public transportation in Indonesia.
"Electrification of public transportation is the future. VKTR is committed to being at the forefront of this change, introducing reliable technology, and encouraging cross-sector collaboration to create a greener future for transportation," Gilarsi concluded.
