Minister of Industry Smitted with the Atto 1 at GIIAS 2025
Minister of Industry Agus's presence at the BYD booth was indeed a key agenda item during his visit to GIIAS 2025. It was more than just a ceremonial visit; it also demonstrated the government's support for the rapid development of the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia. The BYD Atto 1 had captured attention from the start. The Minister of Industry couldn't hide his curiosity, especially regarding the price, which is key to competitiveness in the automotive market.
Spontaneous Reaction Upon Learning the Price
"How much does this cost?" Minister of Industry Agus asked the BYD Indonesia representative directly. Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government for BYD Indonesia, answered bluntly, "The price is Rp 195 million, Sir." This answer immediately surprised Minister of Industry Agus. His expression showed disbelief at the price, which was considered very competitive. "Rp 195 million?" he muttered, as if seeking confirmation. This surprise indicated the BYD Atto 1's significant potential to disrupt the Indonesian electric vehicle market with its attractive price. The incident took place at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, as reported by CNBC Indonesia.
Specifications and Range Become Further Questions
After learning the price, Minister of Industry Agus became even more interested in delving deeper into the BYD Atto 1's specifications. Luther Panjaitan explained the technical details, including highlighting the range, one of this electric car's strengths. "This car can travel up to 300 kilometers on a single charge," Luther explained. This information further convinced Minister of Industry Agus that the Atto 1 is an attractive option for Indonesian consumers looking for an affordable electric vehicle with good performance. "I think this has created a new niche in the low-cost BEV market," said the Minister of Industry, commenting on the Atto 1's significant potential.
BYD Atto 1 Variants and Price Difference
The BYD Atto 1 is available in two variants: Dynamic and Premium. The main differences lie in battery capacity and range. The Dynamic variant, whose price surprised the Minister of Industry, is priced at IDR 195 million on the road in Jakarta. Meanwhile, the Premium variant is offered at a higher price, with a difference of around IDR 40 million. This price difference is commensurate with the improved specifications, particularly in the battery sector and longer range.
Powerful Performance
In terms of performance, the BYD Atto 1 is equipped with a 75 kW electric motor and 135 Nm of torque. This power allows the Atto 1 to reach a top speed of 120 km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h is also quite responsive, taking only about 4.9 seconds. The Dynamic variant uses a 30.08 kWh Blade battery with a maximum range of 300 km. Meanwhile, the Premium variant uses a 38.88 kWh Blade battery, allowing a range of up to 380 km.
