Anniversary iPhone builds on Liquid Glass
In 2027, Apple’s flagship product will turn 20 years old, and according to some reports, the company wants to take the “liquid glass” concept beyond software for the anniversary iPhone. The smartphone is expected to receive a unique display with all four sides curved, which may be called Liquid Glass Display, reports insider Ice Universe.
The idea is to make the smartphone’s frame visually disappear while “keeping the side viewing experience natural.” This immediately brings to mind waterfall displays, but Apple’s solution will feature such a minimal degree of curvature that it should eliminate annoying accidental touches.
If we continue speculating about the appearance of the anniversary “glass” iPhone, one obvious comparison comes to mind: the Apple Watch. It already has a display that is curved in all directions — and the anniversary iPhone is expected to take this concept even further by reducing the frame size even more.
According to the insider, Samsung will be responsible for manufacturing the displays. The OLED panels will be produced using Color Filter on Encapsulation technology, which will make the screen thinner and brighter than its predecessors.
