MRT Creates 2 Eco-Friendly Innovation Product Prototypes
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has prepared two eco-friendly prototypes that will be used in all stations. What are their functions?
The launch was carried out directly by the President Director of PT. MRT Jakarta, Tuhiyat, at the opening of Innovation Creative Week 2025. The two products are the result of MRT's innovation that prioritizes the principle of sustainability in the manufacturing and use process.
"There are two products that we will launch and one product that we will soft launch," said Tuhiyat at Blok M Hub, South Jakarta, Saturday (5/24/2025).
Tuhiyat revealed that one of the prototype products is an air conditioner that works using the principle of thermodynamics. The goal is to provide cooler air in the MRT station area.
"So it takes hot air and turns it into cold air. Later, we will place it in several waiting rooms at MRT Jakarta," he explained.
Meanwhile, the other product is an innovation product that combines visual aesthetics and good benefits for the quality of the surrounding air.
The tool works by accommodating chlorerra algae, which are microalgae that are effective in reducing carbon dioxide levels and producing oxygen through the process of photosynthesis.
"This prototype product is a tool to change or minimize CO2 in several MRT Jakarta areas," explained Tuhiyat.
Tuhiyat said that his party would launch 11 innovative products in the future. This is a form of MRT Jakarta's commitment to continue to participate in sustainable action efforts.

Over 2.6 Million People Use MRT Jakarta in May 2023
In May 2023, 2,686,281 people were recorded as using MRT Jakarta services. This number shows that an average of around 86,654 people use MRT Jakarta per day with a total of 8,161 train trips. The accuracy of travel times, arrivals, and stops also reached 100 percent. The number of transportation figures shows an increase in the total number of passengers from the previous month, which was 2,079,745 people. This rapid increase in transportation figures shows the public's high trust in MRT Jakarta services.
To increase transportation figures, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) collaborates with various parties, especially from the tourism industry such as the culinary sector, activities, to shopping centers, health, education, and ticket promotions at a number of tourist attractions. Collaborative work with a number of public transportation operators (feeder) also encourages an increase in transportation rates such as PPD, Tebengan, gojek, grab, transjakarta, bluebird, and Swoop.
The presence of this feeder transportation will have an impact not only on increasing transportation rates, but also encouraging the culture of using vehicle sharing platforms. In terms of numbers, this feeder operator contributes around 23 percent of the transportation rate from the total MRT Jakarta ridership.
Also in May 2023, the operational hours of ratangga and stations on weekends, which usually start at 6 and end at 24.00, will be from 5 to 24.00 as a form of support for community activities on weekends along the MRT Jakarta line. By operating earlier on weekends, people can use ratangga to go to tourist attractions or sports activities in the Istora Mandiri Station area.
In 2022, the number of MRT Jakarta service users will reach 54 thousand people per day. This figure exceeds the target of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) of 50 thousand people per day throughout 2022. In 2023, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is targeting 70 thousand people per day by the end of the year. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) thanks the public who have placed their trust in the MRT Jakarta service and its feeder partners so that more people use MRT Jakarta in their daily mobility.
As part of innovation and following the digital trend by the public, MRT Jakarta service users can use the MRT Jakarta application on their smartphones to buy travel tickets, use usage points to exchange for various promos, even watch movies and play mobile games. All of these lifestyle features aim to provide a full experience to customers when using MRT Jakarta services. Group ticket purchases (maximum five tickets per account) through the application on an Android-based cellphone can also be done, making it easier for group customers to travel. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) also provides electronic money top-up machines issued by banks at each station.
