PT Aletra Mobil Nusantara Produces the Aletra L8 Electric Car with PT Handal Indonesia Motor
PT Aletra Mobil Nusantara announced the start of production of the L8 model at the production facility of PT Handal Indonesia Motor, Purwakarta, West Java. This step is a concrete step after this electric MPV first appeared at Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2024.
Aletra L8 has been produced using the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) system. In line with the government's efforts to increase local content, Aletra is committed to achieving the Domestic Component Level (Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri) target of more than 40% in the next few years.
Andre Jodjana, CEO of PT Aletra Mobil Nusantara, said that the initial assembly of the Aletra L8 in Indonesia is a strategic step for the company in developing electric vehicle technology which is the future of the automotive industry in the country.
"We are not only answering the needs of the domestic market, but also preparing competitive products in the global market," said Andre in an official statement, Wednesday (28/5/2025).
Meanwhile, Aletra has established a strategic partnership with Livan Auto, part of Geely Group, to present the Aletra L8 EV that has been customized for the Indonesian market.
The research and development process carried out by Aletra includes the conversion of the steering system from LHD (left-hand drive) to RHD (right-hand drive), as well as other adjustments to both the interior and exterior, to ensure that this vehicle is suitable for consumer preferences and road conditions in Indonesia.
As an added value, the RHD version of the L8 model is only produced in Indonesia, and will be the center of export to countries in the Asia Pacific region that use right-hand drive systems.
