Turkish Shipyard Building Two KCR-70M Fast Attack Craft for Indonesia

Turkey's Sefine Shipyard, affiliated with the Turkish TAIS shipbuilding consortium, held a keel-laying ceremony for two KCR-70M fast attack craft (FACs) for the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL).

The event took place at the Sefine Shipyard facility in Yalova, approximately 100 km from Istanbul, and was first announced by the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Achmad Rizal Purnama.

The Ambassador stated in his speech that these full-combat mission vessels, built in collaboration with our Turkish partners, will join the Indonesian Navy fleet next year to strengthen our maritime defense and uphold national sovereignty.

Based on a sales and purchase contract between the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the TAIS Shipyard, construction of the second Fully Equipped Fast Attack Missile Ship (KCR) (NB74 and NB75) ceremonially commenced at the Sefine Shipyard on October 30, 2024. This event marked a milestone in the defense equipment procurement project.

About the KCR-70M/FACM-70: The design of Sefine Shipyard's FACM-70, a 70-meter-long fast attack craft, is based on the Indonesian Navy's KCR-70M.

The FACM-70's primary missions are intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), anti-surface warfare, and anti-air warfare. Furthermore, these vessels are tasked with conducting patrol missions in challenging conditions, such as nighttime operations and limited visibility, while maintaining high radar coverage.

Furthermore, these vessels assist surface combatants during naval operations and engage in counter-asymmetric threats. In combat zones or surrounding areas, these ships are also equipped to conduct Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, providing critical support in a variety of mission situations.
