Chery Q Launches in Indonesia
Chery Indonesia is now preparing to bring the Chery Q to the national market, a move driven by strong public enthusiasm for practical yet stylish urban electric vehicles.
Arthur Panggabean, Head of Brand and Marketing at Chery Business Unit, stated that the company’s internal team has entered the final phase of market research and technical preparation. The Indonesian public won’t have to wait long to see the real vehicle, as this electric car is scheduled to make its official debut at the upcoming Indonesian Idol event on May 18.
Arthur also emphasized that this vehicle brings a fresh spirit to their portfolio, as the Chery Q has the potential to add new color and appeal for consumers and Chery’s lineup in Indonesia.
“We have now entered the final stage of research and preparation before officially introducing it to the Indonesian public at the Indonesian Idol event on May 18,” he said on Monday (11/5/2026).
The high level of enthusiasm for the Chery Q in Indonesia is not surprising, considering its impressive global achievements that meet consumer demand for EVs that are not only functional but also carry a strong lifestyle appeal.
When it first opened registrations in China under the name Chery QQ3 EV in March 2026, the car immediately created a sensation with a total of 56,879 orders placed in just two hours.
This success continued into Southeast Asia through the Bangkok International Motor Show 2026, which then triggered an 80% surge in digital searches in Indonesia over the past week.
This proves that consumers in China, Thailand, and Indonesia share the same desire: they long for compact, efficient electric vehicles that can represent their lifestyle.
Technically, the Chery Q (or QQ3 EV) offers ideal proportions for navigating heavy traffic in big cities. With dimensions of 4,195 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width, and 1,574 mm in height, the car remains agile and easy to maneuver.
Its main advantage lies in the long wheelbase of 2,700 mm, which smartly maximizes cabin space, allowing rear passengers to enjoy generous legroom of up to 977 mm.
Space flexibility is another hard-to-resist attraction. Although it looks compact from the outside, the Chery Q offers a rear cargo capacity of up to 1,450 liters, plus an additional 70-liter front trunk for extra storage.
The combination of energetic design and high functionality was deliberately created to meet the needs of dense daily mobility while still allowing owners to express themselves.
On the performance side, Chery offers two battery options: a 29.48 kWh battery capable of 310 km range, and the top variant with a 41.28 kWh battery offering up to 420 km range (based on CLTC standards).
Not only dynamic thanks to its rear-wheel-drive system, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just about 16 minutes thanks to fast-charging technology.
Arthur Panggabean sees this phenomenon as a positive signal for the development of the green ecosystem in Indonesia. He noted that enthusiasm for the Chery Q has begun to build in Indonesia following its appearances in Thailand and Beijing.
“We are seeing enthusiasm for the Chery Q starting to grow in Indonesia after its presence in Thailand and Beijing. This shows that the public is becoming more open to urban electric vehicles,” said Arthur.
Chery is committed not only to selling vehicles but also to providing modern mobility solutions that combine advanced technology with comfort and safety for users.
The planned arrival of the Chery Q is predicted to heat up competition in the compact electric car segment in Indonesia and give consumers a new option — a nimble vehicle with strong character.
