Depok City Government's Free School Bus Routes Expanded, Passing Through Strategic Areas
Depok - To improve student transportation services that are safer, more comfortable, and orderly, the Depok City Government is introducing new, more extensive school bus routes.
Head of the Transportation Division at the Depok City Transportation Agency, Aan Syurahman, said that they currently have two school bus units. Of those, one unit is already actively serving students.
"Currently, one unit is already active serving school children around Depok 1 and Lembah Gurame. In the near future, we will also operate an additional unit to expand the service coverage," said Aan in his statement, quoted today, Tuesday (5/5/2026).
According to Aan, the school bus route outlined in the socialization material passes through several strategic points. The route starts from the Transportation Agency Office (Jl. Abdul Gani), then proceeds to Jl. Dimun Raya, Cijago Toll Road, or the surrounding highway access areas.
"Plans are to activate one more unit soon to serve the Kalibaru to East Depok (or Depok 2) route," he said.
This new route will also pass through Jl. Bahagia Raya, Jl. Proklamasi, Jl. Kemakmuran Raya, and Jl. Merdeka. The bus then continues to Jl. Bahagia Baru, Lindri Giri, Waru Jaya, Jl. Sentosa, Jl. Proklamasi, returns to Jl. Kemakmuran Raya and Jl. Merdeka, and ends at the depot (pool).
"With the addition of this new route, it is hoped that more students in Depok City will be able to enjoy the benefits of this free school bus service," he said.
Aan added that his agency urges students to take advantage of this facility as a more efficient transportation alternative and to help reduce traffic congestion on the roads.
