Lumajang Regency Government Emphasizes the Importance of Morality in Technology Development

Lumajang – The Lumajang Regency Government (Pemkab) stresses that technological development among the younger generation must go hand in hand with the strengthening of character and moral values. In this way, digital progress can deliver positive benefits to society.

This message was delivered by Lumajang Regent Indah Amperawati while opening the Indonesia Youth Robotic Competition (IYRC) Lumajang 2026 at Gedung Soedjono Lumajang, East Java Province, on Sunday (10/5/2026).

According to Indah, the challenges of the digital era lie not only in mastering technology, but also in how young people use it wisely, responsibly, and with a focus on social benefit.

“Technology must grow alongside good character and morals. Because intelligence without moral values can lose its way,” she said.

Indah explained that robotics activities not only train technical abilities but also shape discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and ethics in the learning process.

In an era of rapidly advancing technology, strengthening character is crucial so that the younger generation is not only digitally intelligent but also possesses social awareness and the ability to uphold human values.

“We want to nurture a generation that is not only technologically smart but also has integrity, compassion, and responsibility in applying their knowledge,” she added.

Through this approach, the Lumajang Regency Government hopes that technology development among the youth becomes part of holistic human development — intellectually capable as well as morally and socially strong.
