Lumajang Regency Government Strengthens Regional Security with CCTV Down to Hamlet Level
Lumajang – The Lumajang Regency Government is accelerating the installation of surveillance cameras (CCTV) across all hamlets. This initiative forms part of a technology-based regional security system to provide faster responses to the community’s need for a greater sense of safety.
The installation of CCTV is not merely seen as an addition of monitoring facilities, but as part of a broader effort to build a more preventive, integrated environmental security system that reaches down to the hamlet level.
Lumajang Regent Indah Amperawati emphasized that accelerating CCTV installation is a top priority for the local government in strengthening public security and order.
“I request that next week, all hamlets already have CCTV installed. I have also ordered the acceleration of village fund disbursements,” Indah said during a briefing at the Arya Wiraraja Pendopo in Lumajang Regency, East Java Province, on Friday (8/5/2026) evening.
Lumajang Regency has 825 hamlets spread across 198 villages and 21 sub-districts. To support this acceleration, the local government has allocated Rp50 million per hamlet from village funds. One of the main priorities for using these funds is strengthening community security.
According to Indah, the presence of CCTV is expected to enhance the effectiveness of area monitoring and assist security forces in investigations if any security or public order disturbances occur.
In addition, CCTV installation is viewed as a step toward building a collective sense of security within the community.
“Public security must be built through real and measurable actions. The presence of CCTV is expected to help create a safer environment and make people feel more protected,” she said.
The local government also assured that it would provide assistance if any technical obstacles arise in the field, including issues related to internet networks and other supporting facilities, so that the surveillance system can operate optimally.
“If there are any obstacles regarding Wi-Fi or other networks, the regency government will provide direct supervision and assistance to ensure the installation runs smoothly,” she stated.
The acceleration of CCTV installation is part of a gradual effort to strengthen the regional security system through collaboration between the local government, security forces, village governments, and the community.
Beyond enhancing territorial surveillance, this move reflects a transformation in the security approach that combines community participation with technological support.
With increasingly integrated monitoring reaching down to the hamlet level, the Lumajang Regency Government hopes to prevent security disturbances more quickly and create a more orderly, comfortable, and conducive environment for the community.
