PO Harapan Jaya Releases 3 New Jetbus 5 MHD Single Glass Buses on Mercedes-Benz OH 1626 L Euro 4 Chassis
Perusahaan Otobus (PO) Harapan Jaya has once again demonstrated its strong presence in the land transportation industry by launching three brand-new buses built by the renowned coachbuilder Adiputro from Malang. The arrival of this new fleet brings fresh excitement for public transportation enthusiasts and reinforces the company’s commitment to providing modern and comfortable vehicles for its passengers.
The three units feature the Jetbus 5 MHD (Medium High Deck) body with a Single Glass variant. They carry Harapan Jaya’s signature identity, dominated by orange, white, and yellow colors, complete with the iconic running horse graphics on the side of the body.
The use of a single-piece windshield (Single Glass) provides a very wide and unobstructed forward view for passengers, without horizontal dividers — a design that has made a comeback as a trend in the Indonesian bus market.
The MHD designation refers to the bus’s height of approximately 3.7 meters. The main advantage of this MHD design lies in its very spacious luggage capacity while maintaining a proportional and aerodynamic body profile.
The exterior looks even more elegant with the futuristic front and rear lights typical of the Jetbus 5, which use modern LED technology, giving a luxurious impression at first glance.
Inside the cabin, passengers are welcomed by a space designed for long-distance travel comfort. All units are equipped with a 2-2 seating configuration that offers ample legroom and movement space.
The seats have an ergonomic design, upholstered in high-quality dark synthetic material accented with red and batik motifs on the sides, adding a classy local touch.
The bus ceiling features neatly arranged AC louvers and interior lighting, creating a warm cabin atmosphere. Entertainment and supporting facilities are among the main selling points of this fleet.
PO Harapan Jaya installed two large LED TVs at the front and middle of the cabin, along with a Mini Pantry located at the front near the entrance door, making it easier for the crew to serve hot drinks.
Above the seats, there are enclosed overhead luggage compartments similar to airplane cabins, allowing passengers’ light carry-on items to be stored more safely and neatly.
Behind the luxury, these three new buses from the Tulungagung, East Java-based operator are powered by the premium Mercedes-Benz OH 1626 L M/T chassis, which already meets Euro 4 emission standards.
This chassis is a favorite among bus operators because it uses Space Frame technology, allowing the luggage compartment to run continuously from left to right without being obstructed by the main chassis structure.
The Mercedes-Benz OH 1626 L chassis is equipped with an OM 906 LA engine, a 6-cylinder inline, direct injection, turbocharged, and intercooled unit with a capacity of 6,374 cc. It produces 260 hp at 2,200 rpm and 950 Nm of torque at 1,200–1,600 rpm.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual G85-6 transmission and comes standard with factory-fitted air suspension to effectively absorb shocks under various road conditions.
Although management has not yet officially announced which routes these three “Orange Horses” will serve, the specifications and facilities offered are more than sufficient to compete on premium AKAP (intercity) routes.
Overall, the presence of these new buses is expected to further pamper PO Harapan Jaya’s loyal customers with even higher standards of safety and comfort.
