PO Mahardhika Launches New Double Decker Bus on Scania K450CB Chassis

PT Mahardhika Jaya Santoso, or PO Mahardhika, has officially strengthened its fleet by launching a new luxurious double-decker bus.

The arrival of this new unit demonstrates the Wonogiri-based company’s commitment to providing the best transportation services to the public. The bus features the Jetbus 5 SDD (Super Double Decker) bodywork, crafted by the Adiputro body manufacturer.

This time, PO Mahardhika’s exterior design adopts a cleaner and more minimalist concept, while still retaining its bold and powerful original DNA. The use of a tronton (6x2) chassis gives it an even more masculine appearance.

The elegant white base color combined with its signature deep red accents is maintained, creating a modern impression without losing the identity that loyal customers have come to love.

The iconic livery that has long been Mahardhika’s pride on the Wonogiri–Jakarta route flows dynamically along the futuristic lines of the Jetbus 5 body, making the bus stand out strikingly on the road.

Inside, passengers are pampered with an interior designed for maximum comfort on long journeys. Entertainment and supporting facilities are also very complete.

On the lower deck, there are two sleeper seats that offer privacy and a perfect resting position, complemented by executive class seats in a 2-2 configuration with reclining features.

Meanwhile, the entire upper deck is dedicated to executive class with a spacious 2-2 seat configuration. Every seat is upholstered in premium dark-colored material that matches the luxurious cabin design.

To spoil passengers, each sleeper area is equipped with a personal LED TV for individual entertainment, while two strategically placed LED TVs behind the sleeper area provide entertainment for executive class passengers on the lower deck.

In addition, the bus is equipped with a mini pantry for light refreshments, a clean and comfortable toilet, and a CCTV security system that monitors the entire cabin to ensure passenger safety throughout the journey.

This comfort is supported by the powerful performance of the Scania K450CB chassis, one of the highest-spec bus chassis in Indonesia. It is known for its strong power delivery combined with smoothness thanks to the air suspension system.

The Scania K450CB chassis is powered by a DC13-143 diesel engine — a 6-cylinder, turbocharged, and intercooled 13,000 cc (13-liter) engine that produces 450 hp at 1,900 rpm and 2,350 Nm of torque at 1,000–1,300 rpm.

As is typical of Scania bus chassis, the K450CB comes with air suspension and Opticruise (semi-automatic) transmission, allowing the driver to make smooth gear shifts and enhancing passenger comfort.

The use of three axles (tronton) provides extra stability when maneuvering at high speeds or on uneven roads. The chassis has also earned Euro ECE R29 cabin certification and Swedish VVFS 2003:29 crash test certification.

On the safety front, the bus is equipped with EBS (Electronic Braking System), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), retarder brake, and hill-hold functions to prevent the vehicle from rolling on inclines or declines.

With its advanced braking technology and good fuel efficiency, the Scania K450CB ensures that intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) travel becomes safer, more comfortable, and more efficient.

Although this unit is ready to operate and strengthen PO Mahardhika’s AKAP services, management has not yet disclosed the specific routes the new double-decker bus will serve.

However, the presence of this premium fleet is predicted to set a new standard for travel to and from Wonogiri, while offering a premium travel experience for its loyal passengers.
