2 Saab GlobalEye AWACS aircraft will be Purchased by France
The Direction générale de l'tication procedure is the French defense procurement agency. Additionally, France has the option to purchase two more GlobalEye planes under the terms of the arrangement.
Bombardier's Global 6000/6500 aircraft platform serves as the foundation for GlobalEye, which combines active and passive sensors to identify threats across great distances in a variety of sectors. The aircraft supports air force, army, and naval operations by providing real-time data.
In order to facilitate aircraft maintenance work for the GlobalEye eet, Saab has also inked a framework agreement with Sabena Technologies, a French aircraft repair and modification company. The goal of this long-term alliance is to improve Saab's industrial collaboration with French businesses.
Detecting and tracking airborne, ground, and marine targets is made possible by the Saab GlobalEye, a multi-domain airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system that combines sophisticated radar, sensors, and a potent command and control suite. Reminiscent of the Bombardier Global 6000/6500 business jet, it provides operational flexibility, great endurance, and extensive range.
The system includes Saab's Erieye Extended Range (ER) radar, which has Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) and may operate in air-to-air, air-to-ground, and marine modes. The FLIR Systems Star Sare 380 HD electro-optical turret and the Leonardo Seaspray 7500E maritime radar are additional sensors.
Real-time data sharing across several domains is made possible by GlobalEye's integrated command and control system. It can detect low-level threats at a distance of over 458 kilometers from a height of 35,000 feet, and it has a radar range of over 650 kilometers and more than 11 hours of sight endurance. It can land on strips as short as 2,300 feet and run on runways as long as 6,500 feet.
