All-New Volvo EX90 Officially Launches in Indonesia, Up to 600 Km Range on a Single Charge
Volvo Car Indonesia has officially launched the all-new Volvo EX90, a flagship electric SUV that sets a new standard for the Swedish manufacturer in combining functionality with environmentally friendly technology.
The arrival of the EX90 represents a strategic step for Volvo to expand its portfolio of pure electric vehicles (BEVs) in Indonesia, alongside existing models such as the XC90 and XC60.
Unlike some of its predecessors, the EX90 was designed from the ground up on a dedicated electric vehicle platform. This approach enables a more efficient component layout, a more spacious cabin, and more advanced technology integration.
According to Koji Horii, CEO of Volvo Car Indonesia, the Volvo EX90 represents the company's vision for the future of mobility, where EVs deliver not only performance but also a safer, more comfortable, and smarter driving experience.
“We are proud to introduce this flagship electric SUV in Indonesia as part of Volvo’s long-term commitment to supporting more sustainable premium mobility,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (20/5/2026).
Under the hood, the SUV is powered by a large 111 kWh battery. Based on testing, this energy capacity enables the vehicle to travel up to 600 km on a single full charge.
To support long-distance travel, Volvo equips the EX90 with a DC fast-charging system with a maximum power of up to 250 kW. This system can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
In addition to powering the vehicle, the battery also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing the car to function as a mobile power generator for external devices.
Volvo offers the EX90 in two dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. The first variant is the Twin Motor, which produces 402 hp and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
For customers seeking more power, there is the Twin Motor Performance variant. This top-tier version delivers up to 510 hp and reduces the 0-100 km/h acceleration time to just 4.9 seconds.
Visually, the EX90’s exterior adopts Volvo’s signature minimalist Scandinavian design language, which prioritizes aerodynamic efficiency. This is evident in the flush door handles, frameless side mirrors, and iconic LED headlights.
Inside the cabin, the EX90 offers a three-row seating configuration that can accommodate 6–7 passengers. Volvo takes an eco-friendly approach by using premium recycled materials.
Cabin comfort is enhanced by four-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and seats with heating and ventilation functions.
Entertainment and information are centered around a 14.5-inch vertical touchscreen that integrates Google built-in. This main screen is complemented by a 9-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
Notably, the vehicle’s operating system supports over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing the car’s systems to be updated regularly without the need to visit a service center.
Routine maintenance is also claimed to be lower compared to conventional cars due to fewer moving parts. As a brand synonymous with safety, Volvo has equipped the EX90 with the latest generation of driver assistance technologies.
Its active safety systems include Collision Avoidance with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Steer Assist, Cross Traffic Alert with Autobrake, and Pilot Assist with Lane Change Assist.
Passive protection is strengthened by curtain airbags, front and side airbags, knee airbags for the driver, as well as seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters across all three rows.
Prior to its official launch in Indonesia, this electric SUV won the World Luxury Car of the Year title at the World Car Awards, judged by a panel of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries.
With its combination of technical specifications and comfort that has earned international recognition, the EX90’s presence in the domestic market is clear proof of Volvo’s readiness to compete in the premium electrification era.
