Balongan Beach is Deserted Due to Crude Oil Waste Pollution
Indramayu – A worrying condition has occurred at the Bali 2 Beach tourist destination in the last two days. The beach, which is known as one of the favorite destinations for tourists to relax with family and relatives, is now polluted by crude oil waste.
Thick black oil spills were seen floating in the waters and polluting the coastline. A pungent odor was also starting to be smelled around the tourist area, causing discomfort for visitors. This pollution is thought to have come from the Pertamina EP company. Oil waste was found inundated along the shoreline since morning, but until now it has not been completely cleaned up. As a result of this incident, the management of Bali 2 Beach suffered losses. In addition to polluting the sea water and sand, visitors also had difficulty taking a shower after activities on the beach.
"We feel very disadvantaged because visitors are uncomfortable. Even the rinse water is polluted, so they have difficulty cleaning themselves," said Akso Surya Darmawangsa, manager of Bali 2 Beach, Thursday (29/5/2025).
The management urged the responsible parties to immediately conduct a thorough cleanup and provide accountability for this incident. Based on reports from the SAR team, waste was still seen floating around the coastal waters until this morning.
"We received a report from the SAR team this morning that the waste spill was still around the beach. This must be handled immediately before the impact becomes more widespread," added Akso.
Meanwhile, a number of tourists who had come to the location looked disappointed. Some chose to leave the beach area, while others just sat on the edge without being able to enjoy the atmosphere as usual. The community, traders, and managers of Bali Beach 2 hope that the relevant agencies will immediately intervene to clean up the waste, investigate the cause of the incident, and maintain environmental sustainability for the comfort of tourists in the future.
