Elon Musk says Trump Account will be Reinstated to Twitter

Elon Musk has announced that Trump would be restored on Twitter after over 15 million users voted in a poll.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced Saturday night that former President Donald Trump will be reinstated on the social media network after a survey he conducted on the platform found that the majority of users supported the notion.

Musk tweeted on Saturday night, "The people have spoken." "Trump will be rehired. Vox Populi et Dei"

Musk's remark came 24 hours after he ran a poll on Twitter asking users if Trump, who was kicked off the network by prior ownership following the January 6, 2021 Capitol Hill riot, should be put back on.

More than 15 million people took the survey, with 51.8% stating they wanted Trump back on Twitter.

Shortly after Musk's revelation, tweets at Trump's former Twitter handle @realdonaldTrump became available.

On the other hand, 48.2% of respondents stated they did not want Trump to return to Twitter.

Musk said that the poll was receiving 1 million votes per hour as the results came in.

Musk tweeted that the survey had been viewed by 134 million people.

It's unknown if Trump would embrace the offer to return to the platform after launching his own social media firm, Truth Social, and announcing earlier this year that he would not return to Twitter.

"I'm not going on Twitter; I'm going to remain on TRUTH," Trump said in April to Fox News. "I hope Elon buys Twitter because he'll enhance it and he's a fantastic dude, but I'm sticking with TRUTH."

A representative for Trump did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Since taking over the site last month, Musk has received near-constant criticism, as he has removed most of its senior leadership and staff, redesigned the network's subscription and authentication structure, and announced a number of changes to its moderating.
